Ruud Repair in Denver
Ruud is a Rheem brand sold through independent contractors, and Ruud furnaces, air conditioners and heat pumps show up all over the Denver metro. This page focuses on what Ruud owners can do before and during a repair: checking warranty registration, understanding the Endeavor Line, and spotting the Colorado-specific problems we fix most often.
Ruud equipment in Denver-area homes
Ruud equipment in the metro ranges from older single-stage furnaces and air conditioners to current Endeavor Line systems, which include the Achiever Series packaged units and two-stage and variable-speed split systems. Because Ruud is built by Rheem, the components, controls and failure patterns are close cousins of Rheem equipment.
The most frequent Ruud calls we take mirror the climate. In winter, furnaces lock out from dirty flame sensors and weak igniters, or stop on pressure switch faults when PVC vents and condensate lines freeze. In summer, capacitors, contactors and outdoor fan motors fail, refrigerant leaks show up as weak cooling, and coils get choked by cottonwood or flattened by spring hail.
Check your Ruud warranty before the repair
Ruud offers a registration verification tool on its website: enter the serial number, with no spaces, and it tells you whether a limited warranty registration is on file. Do this before authorizing a significant repair. Ruud's warranty details point back to Rheem, and Rheem-built equipment uses conditional warranties: for example, Ruud's Achiever Series literature lists 10 years of conditional parts coverage for residential applications, with registration required.
Rheem's current residential split-system warranty document sets the registration window at 90 days from installation or home closing, while older documents used 60 days, so the certificate that came with your equipment governs. Conditional coverage typically does not transfer to a second owner, who receives the remaining base parts warranty. Manufacturer warranties cover parts; labor is billed separately unless you bought a separate labor plan.
Ruud fault codes
Ruud furnaces report faults through either an LED flash pattern or a small numeric display on the control board, depending on the model and its age. Because Ruud has used several control generations, we have not listed codes here. The chart on the inside of your furnace door is the reliable reference.
Write down the code or flash pattern before turning the power off, because cycling power can clear it. If the furnace is in a lockout, it will usually retry on its own after an hour; repeated lockouts are a sign of an underlying problem, not something to keep resetting.
Some patterns are worth knowing even without a chart. A furnace whose inducer starts but whose burners never light usually has a pressure switch, vent or igniter problem. One that lights briefly and goes out typically has a flame sensing or gas pressure issue. One that heats, shuts off with the blower still running, and later restarts is usually tripping its high limit from restricted airflow. Telling us which of these you see speeds up the repair, and sometimes a clean filter or cleared vent is all it takes.
Altitude and the R-454B transition
A Ruud gas furnace in the Denver metro must be set up for altitude following its installation instructions. When that step was skipped, the furnace can overfire, trip its limit switch and wear its heat exchanger early. We check gas pressure and temperature rise on every Ruud heating call.
Ruud's current Endeavor Line air conditioners, heat pumps and packaged units are listed with R-454B refrigerant. If your Ruud system uses R-410A, it can still be repaired, but refrigerants cannot be mixed, so a partial replacement needs a compatible indoor coil.
Packaged units and rooftop systems
Ruud's Achiever Series includes packaged units that put the heating and cooling equipment in one cabinet outdoors, common on some townhomes and homes without basements. Packaged units take the full brunt of Colorado weather: hail damages coils and panels, snow can block the flue and combustion air openings on gas packaged units, and wind-driven debris clogs the condenser.
If your packaged unit stops heating in a storm, check that its vents are clear before anything else. For other problems, call us for heating repair or AC repair. Never remove a packaged unit's access panels while it is powered; the gas and high-voltage components inside are close together, and the panels are part of the safety design.
Repair or replace a Ruud system
Repair is usually right for single-part failures on a system with years of life left. When a compressor or heat exchanger fails on an older, unregistered Ruud system, we provide written prices for both the repair and a replacement. If you are weighing gas against electric heat, see our heat pump vs furnace guide, and ask about heat pump installation or furnace installation.

Ruud FAQs
Is Ruud the same company as Rheem?
Yes. Ruud is a Rheem brand, and Ruud's site is operated by Rheem Manufacturing Company. Warranty questions are handled by Rheem.
How do I check if my Ruud system is registered?
Use the verification tool on Ruud's website and enter your serial number with no spaces.
How long is the Ruud parts warranty?
Many current Ruud models list 10 years of conditional parts coverage for residential use with registration. Without registration, base terms (often 5 years) apply. Check your model's certificate.
Do new Ruud air conditioners use R-454B?
Ruud's current Endeavor Line literature lists R-454B. Older Ruud systems use R-410A and remain serviceable.
Can MrFixer repair a Ruud heat pump?
Yes, in or out of warranty across the Denver metro, 24/7 for emergencies. See heat pump repair or call (720) 466-7983.
