HVAC Replacement Cost Calculator

Pick your system, size and add-ons to see a realistic price range for the Denver metro, with 2026 Colorado incentives taken off. Ranges come from published sources, linked below.

1. What are you replacing?

2. Furnace efficiency
AC size (tons)
Heat pump size (tons)
2. Dual-fuel setup
2. Number of indoor heads (zones)

3. Likely extras

4. Incentives

Xcel Energy rebates may lower the price further; amounts changed on October 1, 2026, so we confirm them for your address.

How this estimate works

Each system type uses a published installed-cost range: gas furnaces by efficiency and central AC by tonnage from HomeGuide, cold-climate heat pumps from Power Ahead Colorado’s Denver-region cost summary, dual-fuel from Fixr and mini-splits by zone count from HomeGuide. Extras add their own published ranges. Incentives are subtracted only for heat pump systems.

Altitude matters in Colorado: gas furnaces lose roughly 4% of output per 1,000 feet, and condensing furnaces need different venting. See our altitude guide and the full 2026 Denver HVAC cost guide.

Questions

Are these MrFixer prices?

No. The calculator uses published market ranges from Power Ahead Colorado, Angi, HomeGuide and Fixr, each linked below. Your real price depends on the house, the equipment and what the inspection finds. We give a written price after an in-home visit.

Why is a heat pump so much more than an AC?

A cold-climate heat pump replaces both heating and cooling for most of the year and uses bigger, inverter-driven equipment. Power Ahead Colorado’s Denver-region estimates put a 3-ton cold-climate system at $18,000–$24,000 before incentives. Incentives such as the $1,500 Power Ahead rebate and Colorado’s heat pump credit bring that down.

Is the federal tax credit included?

No. The federal 25C credit ended for equipment installed after December 31, 2025, so it is not part of 2026 estimates.

How do I know what size system I need?

The size picker uses a rough rule of thumb from square footage. The right size comes from a Manual J load calculation that accounts for your insulation, windows and altitude, which we do on every replacement estimate.
