Ductless Mini-Split Installation in Cherry Hills Village
Lots in Cherry Hills Village start around half an acre and run to several acres, and many houses have grown over decades with wings, sunrooms and separate buildings. Ductless mini-splits are how those spaces get their own heating and cooling without overloading the main house system or running long ducts across the property.
Additions, sunrooms and outbuildings
A 1960s or 1970s ranch that has been expanded often ends up with a sunroom or primary suite at the far end of the house, served by the last few feet of an already long duct run. A dedicated mini-split zone fixes that room alone, and the main furnace and AC stop working overtime to reach it. Detached guest houses, pool houses, home gyms and garage studios are even better candidates: one outdoor unit and one or two heads, no trenching for ducts, and the space can be set back when nobody is using it.
Wine rooms and home theaters are another common request in larger Cherry Hills Village homes. Theaters need quiet, so a ceiling cassette or ducted mini-split air handler hidden above a soffit works better than a wall head.

Cherry Hills Village Climate Note
At about 5,423 feet, furnaces need altitude setup and air conditioners lose some capacity to thinner air. Front Range summer hail is the main threat to outdoor units.

Multi-zone versus several single-zone systems
Large Cherry Hills Village homes tempt owners toward one big multi-zone condenser. We often recommend separate single-zone systems instead, because each runs at its best efficiency and a failure only affects one area. Multi-zone makes sense when several adjacent rooms share a wall and condenser space is limited. On estate lots, line-set length is the bigger constraint: tucking the outdoor unit far from the house for appearance can exceed the manufacturer's limits, so placement is a balance between sightlines and refrigerant piping.
Built for the cold, sized for the altitude
Cherry Hills Village sits near 5,423 feet, with a 4°F winter design point for the county. We choose cold-climate units by published capacity at 5°F and check them against a room-by-room load calculation. Large glass walls in newer custom homes change that math a lot, so window area and orientation go into the numbers. Our ductless guide covers head styles, including ceiling cassettes that disappear into a finished ceiling.
Electrical, condensate and appearance
Outbuildings may need a new electrical feeder or subpanel before a mini-split can go in, and that trenching is often the biggest line item, so we check the panel early. Condensate lines in a pool house or studio that is kept cool in winter need heat tape or an interior route so they don't freeze. During a remodel, line sets can be hidden in walls, which is the cleanest finish for a high-end interior.
Permits and incentives in the village
Permits are issued by the village Building Division through its online portal. When a mini-split is part of a larger remodel, the mechanical scope can be included on the main permit. There is no village contractor license, though electrical contractors have to register.
Federal 25C money is gone for 2026 installs. Colorado pays $1,000 per air-source system through the registered contractor, and the homeowner gets no less than $333 back on the bill. Cold-climate models in existing homes also qualify for $1,500 from Power Ahead Colorado if the application is approved first. Xcel serves the village; its heat pump rebates were reset October 1, 2026, so the utility can tell you what a ductless system qualifies for today.

Ductless Mini-Split Installation FAQs — Cherry Hills Village
Does a pool house or guest house suit a mini-split?
Usually yes. It avoids trenching ducts and lets the building run independently of the main house.
Should I use one big multi-zone system for my addition and basement?
Sometimes, but two single-zone systems are often more efficient and more reliable. We price both.
How far can the outdoor unit be from the house?
It depends on the model's line-set limits. We plan placement for appearance within those limits.
Can a mini-split serve a home theater quietly?
Yes. A ducted mini-split air handler hidden in a soffit or a ceiling cassette on low speed is barely audible.
Does Cherry Hills Village require a separate permit?
Mechanical work needs a permit, though it can be part of a larger building permit during a remodel.
