AC Installation & Replacement in Denver Tech Center
Around the Denver Tech Center, a new air conditioner might go behind a 1970s ranch in Hampden South, onto a crowded pad in a townhome complex, or into a condo where the HOA controls the roof. We install systems in all three, sized by load calculation, permitted through the right city and priced in writing.
Townhome condensers on shared pads
Townhome complexes near DTC often line their condensers up a few feet apart on small pads or rooftops. Units that close together can recirculate each other's hot air, which cuts capacity on the hottest afternoons. When we replace one, we keep the manufacturer's clearances, choose a unit with a footprint that fits, and avoid pointing discharge air at a neighbor's coil. Crane lifts for rooftop units need HOA approval and scheduling.
Noise is another consideration in tightly packed complexes near DTC. Condensers often sit beneath a neighbor's bedroom window or patio, and two-stage and variable-speed units run much quieter at low speed. Some associations specify approved equipment or require a sound rating, so we check that before ordering.

Condos and in-unit systems
In mid-rise and high-rise buildings such as Eastmoor Park or Penterra Plaza, cooling may come from equipment inside each unit or from systems shared by the building. Your HOA documents spell out what you own. For in-unit air handlers, closet space is tight, and the condensate drain is critical, since a leak can reach the unit below. We plan the drain and add an overflow switch where it makes sense.
Elevator access, loading-dock hours and parking for a service truck also shape an install day in a Denver Tech Center high-rise. We coordinate those with building management in advance so the work fits inside the hours the building allows.
Single-family homes from the 1960s to 1980s
Houses in Hampden South and Southmoor Park have central air that may be original or replaced once or twice. Replacement is a chance to fix low airflow from small returns, mismatched coils and ducts designed mainly for heat. For split-levels and two-stories with warm upper floors, a two-stage or variable-speed system and an upstairs return often help more than added capacity.
Finished basements are common in these neighborhoods and change the load picture: the basement stays cool on its own while the top floor overheats. Balancing dampers and a thermostat location that reflects where people sleep help a new system run the way you want.
What a new system includes
Most new split air conditioners sold in Colorado must meet at least 13.4 SEER2, and new equipment uses R-454B or R-32 refrigerant with a matched indoor coil, so the coil is replaced along with the condenser. We check whether the line set can be reused. At about 5,630 feet, coil capacity drops slightly, and the load calculation accounts for it. We quote a minimum-efficiency option and at least one step up.
Permits, utilities and heat pumps
Denver addresses go through Community Planning and Development, Greenwood Village addresses through Community Development, and in Centennial a like-for-like AC replacement is a One-Stop permit. We confirm the city from your address.
Xcel Energy serves Denver and Greenwood Village; Centennial homes may be on Xcel or CORE Electric Cooperative. If you choose a heat pump instead of an AC, Xcel's rebates may apply (confirm current amounts, which changed October 1, 2026). Colorado's 2026 credit is $1,000 per air-source heat pump, claimed by the registered contractor with at least $333 off your invoice, and Power Ahead Colorado's $1,500 applies because Denver, Greenwood Village and Centennial are DRCOG members. The federal 25C credit is not available for 2026 installs. See our heat pump vs. furnace guide.
