AC Installation & Replacement in Lochbuie

In Lochbuie, new air conditioning usually means one of two jobs: adding central cooling to an older manufactured home that has relied on wall or window units, or replacing a builder system in a newer subdivision. Both start with a load calculation. Both end with a permit through the town and a written price.

Adding central air to a manufactured home

A 1999 home in Spacious Living was listed with wall and window air conditioners and ceiling fans, which is typical of the older part of town. Central cooling for these homes comes as a split system, with an outdoor condenser and a coil at the downflow furnace, or as a packaged unit beside the home tied into the floor duct.

Either way, the belly duct carries the air, so we inspect it first. Crossover ducts between sections and trunk connections are often torn or loose. We also check the electrical service, since older manufactured homes may have limited capacity for a new 240-volt circuit.

A split system keeps the outdoor equipment small and usually reuses the furnace blower, but the furnace must be able to take a coil. A packaged unit puts everything outside, which saves closet space and suits homes where the furnace can't accept a coil, though it needs a solid pad and a clean duct connection through the skirting. We explain which fits your home and what each involves before you decide, and we remove the old wall units and patch the openings if you want them gone.

Lochbuie Climate Note

Lochbuie sits at about 5,043 feet on open plains northeast of Denver, where outdoor units on open lots collect dust and grass and side-wall furnace vents can be blocked by drifting snow.

Builder systems in Silver Peaks and Bella Vista

D.R. Horton has built in Silver Peaks since about 2016, so the oldest original air conditioners there are approaching ten years. When one fails out of warranty, the replacement is a chance to correct builder shortcuts. Single-stage condensers and ducts sized for minimum cost often leave upstairs bedrooms warm. A two-stage or variable-speed system, an added upstairs return or balancing dampers can do more than extra capacity. Lochbuie Station and Bella Vista homes are in a similar position.

Wind, hail and HOA placement

Open plains around Lochbuie mean strong wind, blowing dust and hail. We set new condensers on a level pad with clearance, choose a location with some shelter from the prevailing wind, and recommend hail guards where they won't restrict airflow. Most newer subdivisions have HOA rules on visible equipment, so check them before a unit moves or a second one goes in.

2026 equipment standards

Most split air conditioners sold in Colorado now must be at least 13.4 SEER2, and new equipment uses R-454B or R-32 refrigerant with a matched coil. At about 5,040 feet, the load calculation accounts for slightly lower coil capacity. We quote the minimum-efficiency option and at least one higher tier so you can compare.

Permits, United Power and heat pumps

AC replacements and additions are permitted through the Town of Lochbuie Building Department, with SAFEbuilt inspections; contractors must be licensed with the town. We handle the paperwork.

United Power supplies electricity here, so Xcel's electric rebates don't apply. United Power runs its own member rebate program; we couldn't confirm 2026 amounts, so call the co-op. A heat pump is worth pricing against any AC: Colorado's 2026 credit is $1,000, claimed by the registered contractor with at least $333 off your invoice, and because Lochbuie is a DRCOG member, Power Ahead Colorado's $1,500 cold-climate rebate applies to existing homes. Federal 25C money is gone for anything installed after 2025. See our heat pump vs. furnace guide.

Can my manufactured home in Lochbuie get central air?

My Silver Peaks AC cools downstairs but not upstairs. Do I need a bigger unit?

Usually not. Airflow upgrades or a two-stage system often fix it.
