Daikin Repair in Denver
Daikin sells ducted furnaces, air conditioners and inverter heat pumps in the U.S., alongside its ductless systems, and it is also the company behind Goodman and Amana. Daikin's newer ducted heat pumps use R-32 refrigerant and carry some of the longest registered parts warranties available. Here is what Denver-area Daikin owners should know before a repair.
What Daikin owners in the Denver metro call about
Many Daikin systems in Colorado are inverter heat pumps or ductless units installed in the last several years, often to replace or supplement a gas furnace. Calls about these systems are different from classic furnace calls: a heat pump that struggles in a cold snap, a system that shows a fault on the thermostat, an outdoor unit that ices up and does not defrost, or an indoor unit leaking water from a blocked condensate drain.
Daikin gas furnaces, which share designs with Goodman and Amana, bring the familiar Colorado furnace problems: ignition lockouts, pressure switch faults from blocked PVC vents in snow, and limit trips from restricted airflow. Our heat pump repair and ductless mini-split repair technicians work on both sides.
Daikin fault codes
Daikin gas furnaces use LED flash codes on the control board in the same family as Goodman and Amana, and the examples below come from an independent service reference that covers all three brands. Many Daikin inverter heat pumps and ductless systems instead show alphanumeric fault codes on the thermostat or unit display; those vary widely by model, so we have not listed them. The installation manual or the fault history on a Daikin communicating thermostat is the best reference.
If a Daikin furnace shows two flashes (pressure switch closed with the inducer off), the switch or control board is suspect and it needs professional repair. Three flashes (switch open with the inducer running) is more often a venting or drain problem that you may be able to spot by checking the outdoor PVC pipes for snow or frost.
Daikin warranty: register within 60 days
Daikin's warranty certificate for its DX3SE, DX4SE, DX5SE, DZ4SE and DZ5SE outdoor units requires online registration within 60 days of installation. In an owner-occupied home, registration extends parts coverage from 5 years to up to 12 years while the original registered owner or spouse owns and lives there. Non-owner-occupied homes get up to 10 years if registered.
Those models also include a unit replacement provision: if the compressor fails within the first 6 years, Daikin may provide one replacement unit, but only if the owner named a licensed contractor for annual maintenance at registration, the unit was matched with a new indoor coil or air handler, and annual maintenance was performed and documented. Keep your maintenance records. Warranty terms differ for other Daikin models, so check the certificate for yours.
R-32, altitude and Colorado winters
Daikin, along with Goodman and Amana, has moved its residential heat pump matchups from R-410A to R-32. R-32 is a single refrigerant rather than a blend, which the manufacturer's R-32 literature says allows charging in liquid or vapor phase and topping off after a leak repair. Older R-410A Daikin systems remain repairable, but the two refrigerants are not interchangeable.
For gas furnaces, high-altitude setup matters: the Goodman-family installation manuals call for orifice changes above 2,000 feet. For heat pumps, altitude matters less than cold-weather performance and defrost; a heat pump that ices over completely, or runs on backup heat all the time, needs a defrost and refrigerant charge check. Our guide on heat pumps vs furnaces in Colorado covers what to expect.
Repair or replace your Daikin system
Registered Daikin equipment can carry a long parts warranty, so most repairs on recent systems are parts-covered with a labor charge. On older systems, we compare the repair cost with replacement and put both in writing. If your Daikin heat pump has struggled since installation, the cause may be duct sizing or charge rather than a defect, and we will tell you which.
We also install replacement systems: see heat pump installation and furnace installation, or call for AC repair 24/7.
Keeping a Daikin inverter system healthy
Inverter heat pumps run longer at lower speeds than older single-stage systems, which is efficient but means filters load up steadily and small airflow problems show up as comfort complaints rather than outright failures. Change or clean filters on schedule, keep two feet of clearance around the outdoor unit, and after heavy snow make sure the unit is not buried and its base can drain meltwater during defrost.
Because Daikin's unit replacement coverage on the models we checked depends on documented annual maintenance by a licensed contractor, it is worth keeping those service records in one place. If you need a repair, bring them out; they help with any claim.

Daikin Error Codes
| Code | What it usually means |
|---|---|
| LED off | No power to the furnace control |
| Steady on | Normal operation |
| 1 flash | Lockout from excessive ignition retries |
| 2 flashes | Pressure switch closed while inducer is off |
| 3 flashes | Pressure switch open while inducer is on |
| 5 flashes | Flame sensed with gas valve off |
Codes differ by model and control board. Check the chart on your unit's door panel before acting on any code.
Daikin FAQs
How long do I have to register a Daikin system?
For the Daikin DX/DZ outdoor units we checked, 60 days from installation, online. Registration extends parts coverage from 5 years to up to 12 years in an owner-occupied home.
What refrigerant do new Daikin heat pumps use?
R-32. Daikin, Goodman and Amana have moved their residential heat pump matchups from R-410A to R-32.
Is Daikin the same company as Goodman?
Goodman and Amana are part of the Daikin family; Amana equipment is made under license by Daikin, and Daikin's warranty registration runs through Goodman's systems.
Why is my Daikin heat pump covered in ice?
Some frost is normal in winter, and the unit should defrost periodically. A solid block of ice suggests a defrost, sensor, airflow or charge problem; book heat pump repair.
Does MrFixer repair Daikin mini-splits?
Yes. We repair Daikin ductless and ducted systems across the Denver metro. See mini-split repair or call (720) 466-7983.
